Who we are

Farmers Development Union (FADU), an NGO established in 1989 is a grassroots community development and rural microfinance membership organization.

FADU key program focus is socio-economic development of its affiliate members using the components of:

Our Partners

What we do

Capacity Building

Training and support to individuals and groups in rural and sub-urban communities to develop skills and knowledge in areas such as entrepreneurship, leadership, financial management, project management, group management etc.

Livelihoods

Works to strengthen and diversify livelihood opportunities for vulnerable individuals/communities by promoting sustainable income generating activity through vocational training, micro-enterprise development and access to credit.

Microcredit Services:

Builds the FADU Community Associations (FCAs) as strong financial institutions capable of providing a wide range of financial services to support their group members to access capital for their small businesses and other income-generating activities.

Sustainable farming practices

To ensure food security, we promote sustainable farming practices that conserve natural resources, increase productivity and improve the resilience of small-holder farmers to climate change. We promote Agro-forestry in tree crop farming and organic farming practices.

Value Chain Development

FADU supports small-scale farmers and businesses to access markets and increase their income through value chain development, which includes improving product quality (processing), packaging and marketing in commodities such as cocoa, cashew, oil-palm, cassava, soybeans etc.

Nutrition

We promote healthy eating habits and supports communities to access nutritious foods through development of community gardens, nutrition education, and advocacy for policies that support food security and nutrition.

Health Advocacy

FADU advocates for improved health outcomes in communities through the promotion of good health practices, access to health care, and advocacy for policies that support health and well being.

Gender Equality

We are committed to advancing gender equity by empowering women and girls through education, training, leadership development, and advocacy for their rights and equal opportunities.
